certificate field
Fingerprints (SHA-1 / SHA-256)
What it means
Hashes of the entire certificate file. Not part of the certificate — computed from it. Two files with the same SHA-256 fingerprint are byte-for-byte the same certificate.
Why it matters
The reliable way to compare certificates across systems ('is the server really serving the cert I installed?') and the value used for certificate pinning.
