WhyCrashed

certificate field

Public key

What it means

The key embedded in the certificate — its algorithm (RSA, EC, Ed25519) and strength (bits or curve). The matching private key lives on the server and never appears in the certificate.

Why it matters

Key strength sets the security floor: RSA below 2048 bits is considered breakable and rejected. EC P-256 is the modern default for TLS.
